Another beautiful celebration at David Girard Vineyards, this time with Trish + Derek, who tied the knot on a day that was smoky but filled with joy.
From the moment I arrived at the Sequoia Mansion where she was getting ready, Trish was glowing – and she did not stop smiling for the duration of the evening. She had met Derek online a year ago and they realized very quickly they were meant for each other. Throughout the time I spent with them, I got the clear impression that they were just happy to have found one another and content to be in each other’s company. That kind of quiet ease and peaceful happiness is infectious and they definitely put me in a bright and creative mood for the day.
Because of the smoke, generated by the Amador County fire, the light was beautiful around the vineyards. Although we missed the bright blue sky, the haze acted like a giant soft-box, casting a beautiful orange glow onto everything. It also had the effect of cooling the temperatures considerably – something which I’m certain the groomsmen in their tuxes greatly appreciated. (I wasn’t complaining either!)
The day was capped-off by a lovely reception in the DGV ballroom, complete with a full bar plus an espresso bar by A Whole Latte Love – presumably the latter to counteract the former! Emotional speeches by the best man, Carlos, and Trish’s daughter, Ashleigh, led into a first dance to How Sweet It Is, and then finally letting go on the dance-floor with friends and family.
What a great day! Congratulations Trish and Derek.
