Trish and Derek are getting married at the Wedgewood at David Girard Vineyards in Placerville on September 12th and I had the pleasure of getting to know them a little better during a recent engagement session.
I encourage ALL my couples to schedule an engagement session. One of the biggest benefits, outside of the beautiful images, is the ability for clients and photographer to get used to one another, get to know one another better and, for me as the photographer, to learn what are the best ways to capture a couple before the wedding day. It really does make a huge difference on the wedding day itself in terms of feeling at ease in front of the camera. There are so many other things on your mind on your wedding day, worrying about being in front of the camera shouldn’t be one of them.
So we met at Sly Park Lake in Pollock Pines for a fun and relaxed session where I learned that Trish and Derek met online, have grown children from previous relationships, and have been together for a year. Trish actually has triplets, naturally. Because that’s so rare these days, I actually went online to see what the odds of that are and they’re around one in 5,300 conceptions!
I also quickly learned – and admired – how at-ease they were with one another. There was a natural warmth and camaraderie between them and, as someone who has been married for some time now knows, beyond the initial passion in all relationships, these are the qualities that will help them stand the test of time.
I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in a couple of months.
