Peggy and Bryan chose a lovely fall weekend to get married at the historic Sequoia Mansion. Peggy wanted an elegant 1920’s era wedding and the vintage grandeur of the Sequoia fit her style perfectly! Her romantic lace dress (with its amazing couture open back) and pearl-draped wedding cake were certainly no accident and set the stage for a wedding straight off the pages of the Great Gatsby. We had so much fun photographing this fun, classy couple on their special day!
The wedding was beautiful and intimate, with many family members participating in the nuptials. Bryan’s brother (who, coincidentally, introduced Bryan and Peggy) officiated while his wife Priscilla was the maid of honor. Peggy’s dad led his daughter down the aisle and gave a touching toast at the reception, nodding to the tight bond that the two share. We love it when families are as close as Peggy and Bryan’s is! So much happiness already that will no doubt continue to blossom as the years go by.
A funny thing about weddings is that 90% of brides nearly walk down the aisle with their morning hair tie snapped around their wrist. With all the activity of getting hair and makeup done (while sipping on some excellent champagne, mmm-hmm), it just happens! We are always on the lookout to retrieve these little rubber bandies before a bride poses for photos so she looks her best. Luckily for lead photographer Lisa Richmond, a hair tie was just what she needed for a day of active wedding photography, and Peggy was able to donate her stray one to the cause. We all had a good laugh about that one, and helped to ease those pre-ceremony jitters, too.
Congratulations to Peggy and Bryan on this journey that they are embarking on together. May our paths cross again as you build your life, family, and business together. Oh, and if you ever need a photographer who knows her way around the backcountry, Lisa will gladly hitch a ride in the back of your jeep. Happy trails you two – here’s to a lifetime of adventures together!
