Jessica and Marcos chose to get married on Veterans Day – 11/1 – to commemorate the anniversary of their first date together as high school sweethearts. Their winter wedding at the Sequoia was gorgeous, filled with love, laughter, the warm wishes of friends, and a clear, God-centered outlook for their life together as husband and wife.
The afternoon started with Jessica running fashionably late. She called me from the hairdressers to let me know she was 15 minutes behind and so we switched plans on the spot and decided to have me photograph Marcos first, then move into some detail and reception shots until she arrived. Unfortunately, when I arrived to greet Marcos, he informed me that Jessica had his tux in her car!
Despite being a tad behind on our timeline, Jessica and Marcos were any easy couple to photograph. I was having so much fun with them that I joked that perhaps we should skip the wedding and just spend the rest of the evening taking photos of the two of them!
Weddings are always full of memorable, supporting characters, family and friends who deliver heartfelt speeches, give touching hugs, make ice-breaking jokes, and go above-and-beyond to help. For Jessica, her Maid Of Honor and sister, Crystal, was one of those people, providing some really thoughtful support during the portraits by moving distracting objects out of the way, primping Jessica’s dress, and wrangling family and friends. I think she has a possible career in wedding planning waiting for her if she wants it!
Loved this, our last wedding of the 2015 season, and am looking forward to posting the first of next year’s weddings in January. Happy Holidays and best wishes for a prosperous New Year to all Sunflower Field clients, their family, and friends, and – especially in this case – to Jessica and Marcos as they head into a new year as husband and wife!
